Subbuteo across America
National News
Written by John Terry's wife
Thursday, 04 February 2010

On Saturday May 22, 2010, we will be holding the first Subbuteo across America day to raise money for the Red Cross.

We would like to encourage all of the Subbuteo players in the USA and Canada to take part in this historic occasion, and help raise money for a very worthy charity.

All you do is play Subbuteo, on May 22, and send us your donation.  We will gather all of the donations and send them on to the Red Cross.
Note: Players under 18 do not have to send a donation.

  • If you are a member of a Subbuteo/Table Soccer club please encourage all the other members of the club to take part.

  • If you play with friends and family then please encourage them to take part.

  • If there are no other Subbuteo players near you then you can play solo games.

What is important is that you play Subbuteo on the day, even if it is only one game.

If you would like to take part contact us using the Contact page on the Southern California Subbuteo Club's website here»

For more information check the Subbuteo across America micro site here»

Yes, it is a long URL which is why we have the shorter: http://SubbuteoAcrossAmerica.tk  that will take you to the same page.

Thank you

California Rankings

Dominic Hutchinson took it upon himself to create the Southern California Subbuteo Club's own "California Rankings" to get a better idea of the club's players' ranking compared to one another.

This proved a complicated task as last year the club had played two seasons, eight tournaments, and many "other" games.  Dominic created an algorithm that would award each player points for their participation and finishing position in seasons and tournaments, and the number of "other" games each player played.  The points awarded were weighted differently accordingly to the event type.

While the first two positions of the "California Rankings" match the ASA's Rankings, which only include the ASA Opens, thereafter they divurge and produce some interesting differences.

Farewell to the "Noughties"

Thursday, 31 December 2009

The Southern California Subbuteo Club played their last tournament of the decade on Sunday December 27.  The "noughties" have been an exciting decade for the SCSC as their membership has steadily increased to form a group of "regulars" and larger group of "tournament only" players.

It was a treat for the "regulars" to welcome John Carroll and Sean Daly to the Subbuteo table again.  Sean and Wayne Smith were the only two players taking part in the competition who were members of the club at the start of the decade.

And so it ended.

The fantastic run that flicked off on February 22, 2002 finished 7 years, 9 months and 5 days later, on November 27th, in the same way it began.
